We developed a technical white paper for Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) entitled: Evaluation for Excellence in Innovation that synthesized the evidence on social innovation labs from research and practice worldwide to guide ESDC’s understanding how to evaluate the impact of their learning and innovation labs. Working with Dr. Thomas Ungar, Psychiatrist-in-chief at St. Michaels Hospital and innovator behind the reality web series Think You Can Shrink, we developed a proof-of-concept study examining how media like YouTube can support mental health promotion for men. This pioneering study was published in the Journal of Technology and Behavioral Science and was followed with a special editorial letter in the BMJ. (2016-2017).
We conducted an environmental scan and review of the state-of-the-art in social media applications for youth addiction services for Health Canada in 2012 to guide their policy making and programming as they sought to engage youth in health promotion.
